Dr. Saturday's College Football Madness: Round One, Region 1
Welcome to Dr. Saturday's College Football Madness. Ever wondered how the 2013 college football season could have turned out with a 68-team playoff? You've come to the right spot. While 68 teams participate in the NCAA tournament, we're running an expanded college football playoff. And you're in charge. Each matchup is open to a vote and the team with the most votes in each game moves on to the next round. Let's get the first round started off with Region 1.
The first round is here and is this the beginning of another run to the title for undefeated Florida State? Voting for the first round matchups in Region 1 is open until Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m. ET. Click here for the entire bracket.
No. 1 Florida State vs. No. 16 Southeastern Louisiana
Jameis Winston and company aren't going to fall to an FBS team, right?
No. 8 Texas vs. No. 9 Cincinnati
Is this Mack Brown's swan song, and is Cincinnati better than they showed against North Carolina in the Belk Bowl?
No. 4 LSU vs. No. 13 Michigan
This game isn't nearly as intriguing without LSU QB Zach Mettenberger and Michigan QB Devin Gardner, but there's still the Les Miles storyline.
No. 5 UCLA vs. No. 12 Boise State
A few years ago, this is a trendy 12 over 5 upset pick. But this isn't your Fiesta Bowl Boise State.
No. 6 Duke vs. No. 11 Bowling Green
Bowling Green knocked off Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. Can it slow down Duke?
No. 3 Oregon vs. No. 14 San Diego State
San Diego State had kicking issues all season, but this game isn't going to be close enough to worry about a missed field goal or two, is it?
No. 7 Notre Dame vs. No. 10 Utah State
The Aggies don't have QB Chuckie Keeton, and is Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees going to continue to be Turnover Tommy?
No. 2 Missouri vs. No. 15 Colorado State
The Rams beat the Tigers in the first round of the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament. It's a mismatch in the other direction here.
