Colorado loses second starting linebacker, Kenneth Olugbode out 4-6 weeks

Colorado starting inside linebacker Kenneth Olugbode will miss four to six weeks after suffering a leg injury in last week’s loss to Oregon.

"He got hit in the leg, it started swelling up, (fluid) had nowhere to go," coach Mike MacIntyre said Tuesday. "They had to take him to the hospital, cut (open) his leg and drain it. He'll be out four to six weeks, and he's an excellent player for us."

Olugbode’s injury means the Buffaloes have lost both of their starting inside linebackers this season. Addison Gillam was injured during the second game of the season and there’s no timetable for his return.

Ryan Severson is the likely replacement for Olugbode. Severson leads Colorado with eight special teams tackles.

"He's played a lot of football for us," MacIntyre said of Severson. "Now our two starting (inside) linebackers are out, but we'll keep going along. The good thing is, I think we're putting guys in that can definitely play."
