College Football Playoff trophy to be unveiled July 14 (Video)

A new era of college football is fast approaching.

The BCS is in the rearview mirror and the new College Football Playoff (which has a new website, by the way) is on the horizon, and with the new playoff system comes a brand new championship trophy for the top dogs of college football.

The design of the new trophy has been kept quiet throughout the offseason, but according to this weird, cinematic teaser video thing, it appears that Monday, July 14, will be the day when the new hardware is unveiled.

Monday is also the first day of SEC Media Days, so we thought that might be a good place for the trophy to make its debut, but Friday morning it was announced that the trophy's first appearance will be Monday morning in Irving, Texas.

We’ll just have to wait and see what will replace the famous BCS crystal football, which we will miss dearly.

Good night, sweet prince.
