Clemson's Sammy Watkins scores in the first quarter of the Orange Bowl (USA Today Sports)

There has been no shortage of offense in the Orange Bowl, and late in the third quarter two Clemson wide receivers made highlight touchdown catches to put the Tigers in front. To make matters worse for Ohio State, both touchdowns came off Buckeye turnovers.

The Buckeyes forced a Clemson punt with less than four minutes left in the third quarter, but Ohio State’s Philly Brown fumbled the punt and set Clemson up with great field position at the OSU 33. Three plays later, Tajh Boyd looked to the end zone toward Sammy Watkins. With an epic leap, Watkins snatched the ball out of the air at its highest point for a touchdown to get Clemson within two points, 29-27.

On the third play of Ohio State’s ensuing possession, Braxton Miller was intercepted by Jayron Kearse. Clemson again had great field position at the Ohio State 38-yard line. The Tigers advanced inside the OSU five-yard line, when Boyd found Martavis Bryant in the end zone and this happened:

Bryant’s impressive grab briefly gave Clemson a 34-29 lead, but Ohio State responded on its next drive with a Miller-to-Carlos Hyde 14-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead, 35-34. That lead didn't last long though, as Clemson punched back with another score to retake a 40-35.

Buckle up down the stretch, folks.
