Clemson players still upset about Jameis Winston 'our house' tweet

One of the more anticipated games of the weekend is top-ranked Florida State’s home matchup against No. 23 Clemson in an ACC contest. The game is not quite as hyped up as last year’s version of the game, when the Seminoles marched into Death Valley and destroyed the Tigers 51-14.

That dominant showing prompted a March tweet from FSU quarterback Jameis Winston that caught the attention of the Clemson players. Winston, while on a road trip with the FSU baseball team, took a photo in front of Memorial Stadium with the caption, “our house.”

Nearly six months later, a few Clemson players haven’t forgotten about the tweet.

“That’s a guy that wants to make it all about him,” said senior defensive lineman Grady Jarrett. “We’ll let him have that. It’s a team game.”

Jarrett added that Winston’s tweet was “disrespectful,” and senior safety Robert Smith said he’ll “never forget about it” and that it will be in the back of his mind throughout the week, presumably to use it for motivation.

Both teams are coming off a bye, so they’ll be well rested for the primetime matchup. The Tigers dropped their first game of the year to Georgia but rebounded to trounce South Carolina State in Week 2.

The Seminoles opened the season with a 37-31 win over Oklahoma State before beating The Citadel in Week 2.
