Clemson OT Isaiah Battle lands an uppercut on N.C. State defender (GIF)

In the final minutes of Thursday’s Clemson-N.C. State game, Clemson left tackle Isaiah Battle was ejected for punching Wolfpack defensive back Jarvis Byrd.

And when we say punching, we mean a Tyson-style uppercut under the facemask that sent Byrd to the ground.

The aptly named Battle even got in a defensive fighting stance after throwing the punch like he was expecting a brawl to break out.

Instead, he was removed from the game by head coach Dabo Swinney and ultimately ejected by officials. There’s no doubt the SEC will have something to say about Battle’s actions that could lead to further punishment.

We’re not exactly sure what set Battle off. He was standing by two N.C. State defenders when he pulled a Don Falmenco. After the game, Swinney called the altercation a “poor” personal foul and added: “That isn’t Clemson.”
