Munchie Legaux will be in a Cincinnati uniform in 2014.
The school announced Wednesday that the QB was granted an eligibility extension waiver for a fifth year.
Legaux suffered a gruesome knee injury on Sept. 7 against Illinois when his left knee got torqued as he was hit. He missed the rest of the season.
He entered the 2013 season as Cincinnati's starter after he was 120-230 passing for 1,716 yards, 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2012. After he was hurt, Brendon Kay took over at quarterback. Kay finished with 3,302 yards passing, 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2013.
However, Kay was a sixth-year senior in 2013, so Legaux will presumably be the favorite for Cincy's starting job in 2014. The Bearcats lost the Belk Bowl to North Carolina on Dec. 27 and finished 9-4.
WR Shaq Washington was also granted an additional year of eligibility Wednesday. He had 783 yards and a touchdown in 2013. His waiver dates back to the 2011 season when he was only able to play four games due to injury.
With Louisville's departure from the American Athletic Conference to the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Bearcats will be one of the favorites to win the AAC along with Central Florida.
