BYU to debut black uniforms against Oregon State

Since wearing white after Labor Day is a fashion no-no, BYU is leaning toward the opposite side of the color spectrum.

The Cougars will wear all-black uniforms for its "black out" game against Oregon State on Oct. 13. Not sure BYU would have chosen this game to black out at the beginning of the season, but after the way the Beavers have played this year, the game has become a little more intriguing.

The new Nike uniforms still have BYU's signature blue and white as trim around the numbers, the sleeves and on the sides of the pants. The helmets, which are matte, also have a blue and white stripe.

These are sharp black uniforms and I'm glad BYU held true to its tradition and kept the "Y" with the oval on the helmet.

Oddly, the last ranked team the Cougars defeated was No. 18 Oregon State in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas in 2009. Perhaps these uniforms will provide the same type of magic.
