Boxscore gaffe has Tennessee losing to N.C. State in the Vols spring game
Tennessee is currently spending $43 million on a new football facility, but perhaps it should put a little of that money toward buying new boxscore software for the televisions in the interview rooms.
After Saturday's Orange and White game, Tennessee coach Derek Dooley looked over at the flat screen television with the game's statistics on it and saw his team had lost to N.C. State.
Wait, what?
Orange had actually beaten White 17-14, but the boxscore software on the screen wasn't equipped to change the teams, so it just listed Tennessee against its Week 1 opponent. Unfortunately, it had Tennessee losing to the Wolf Pack. Dooley was told the software couldn't configure the appropriate logos.
Dooley's already on the hot seat after consecutive losing seasons and losing to Kentucky for the first time since 1984, so he probably didn't need someone prophesying his season opening result.
Said Dooley: "In 1969 we put a man on the moon and we can't fix the logos."
