Another key contributor from Bowling Green’s defense has been suspended.

Head coach Dino Babers announced Tuesday that senior defensive end Bryan Thomas has been suspended indefinitely from the program.

The school didn’t announce a reason for Thomas’ suspension, but, according to NBC 24, Thomas was arrested and charged with “felonious assault” stemming from a May 29 bar fight.

From NBC 24:

According to Bowling Green Police, officers responded to fight behind a downtown BG bar on May 29th.  Officers were able to locate a victim who told police a group of males attacked him.  Officers say video from inside the bar shows Thomas assaulting the victim.

Thomas appeared in Bowling Green Municipal Court Tuesday morning.  He is currently being held in the Wood County Justice Center on $50,000.

The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Thomas played made 13 starts for the Falcons in 2014 and led the team with eight sacks. He also registered 48 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and forced five fumbles, earning third team All-MAC honors.

He previously registered 37 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a sack in 14 starts in 2013 and 33 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 10 starts in 2012. Thomas, redshirted in 2010 and missed most of the 2011 season with a knee injury, was recently awarded a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Thomas’ arrest comes two months after cornerback Nick Johnson was suspended following an arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman on campus. Johnson remains suspended.
