Bobby Bowden made his first appearance at a Florida State game since being forced out as the Seminoles coach following the 2009 season.
And the fans and Seminoles made him feel special upon his return.
Not only did he get a rousing ovation when he stepped on the field, he was given the honor of planting the spear in the middle of the field prior to the start of the game.
Then, at halftime, the Florida State band spelled out the word “DADGUM” on the field. It was one of the words Bowden always used (probably still does) and it became associated with him.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Bowden didn’t feel comfortable coming back to Tallahassee, but the fact that Florida State recently hired the former coach as a fundraiser for Seminole Boosters for $250,000 seems to have helped in the process of mending fences.
