Bill Snyder really didn’t want his Gatorade bath after Kansas State beat Michigan (VIDEO)
Bill Snyder can scoot.
The 74-year-old coach of the Kansas State Wildcats was clearly prepared for a Gatorade dousing in the waning minutes of Kansas State's 31-14 win over Michigan and did what he could to get out of the way before succumbing to the purple ice bath.
And while the meticulous coach was possibly not thinking that the gesture was necessary after an 8-5 season, he was also concerned with the timing of it. After getting hit, Snyder pointed to the scoreboard and chatted with defensive end Ryan Mueller -- the main culprit -- likely about how there was time still on the clock.
It's a good thing that Mueller had 11.5 sacks on the season.
Kansas State jumped out to an early lead in Saturday's game thanks to a stellar performance by Kansas State's best player on the other side of the ball. Tyler Lockett caught three touchdown passes in the first half and those touchdown catches of six, 29 and eight yards came on Kansas State's first three drives.
Locket emerged as the Big 12's best receiver in 2013, and after Friday night's game finishes the season with 81 catches for 1,262 yards and 11 touchdowns. If he can come close to duplicating that output next year, he'll pass his father Aaron, atop the Kansas State career receiving yardage list.
With freshman quarterback Shane Morris starting in place of Devin Gardner because of Gardner's broken foot, Michigan moved the ball well in the first half. However, to do so, the Wolverines used a myriad of misdirections and machinations to accrue those yards. And still couldn't run the football. Michigan finished with 65 yards on the ground, but it must be noted that 40 of them came on a garbage time scramble from Morris.
That left Kansas State to only defend the pass in the second half against a quarterback starting his first college game. For Snyder, that was almost as predictable as that Gatorade bath.
