Baylor WR Robbie Rhodes arrested on marijuana and tampering charges
A Baylor receiver who is expected to make an impact for the Bears next season is facing some legal troubles.
Robbie Rhodes, a former Rivals top 100 recruit who will be a sophomore next season, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence after being pulled over early Friday morning.
According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said that Rhodes was pulled over when he “didn’t signal a lane change.” The officer then smelled marijuana and “found 5.8 grams of marijuana in a baggie under the front seat.”
Rhodes, who was released later that day on a $4,000 bond, allegedly attempted to hide the drugs, which led to the tampering charge. He had previously been cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to jail records.
Baylor head coach Art Briles told the Tribune-Herald that he will address the situation.
In 10 games as a true freshman, Rhodes caught 10 passes for 157 yards. Rhodes caught a 38-yard touchdown in the Bears' spring scrimmage and was pointed out by Briles as a receiver who will be a top target for quarterback Bryce Petty.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Rhodes was a four-star recruit and the No. 69 rated prospect in the class of 2013.
