A man wanted on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder was taken into police custody Tuesday following a lengthy standoff with the Boulder, Colo., SWAT team. According to the Boulder Daily Camera, the suspect, 24-year-old Donte Faison of Baltimore, had been staying at the home of members of the Colorado football team.

The standoff lasted six hours, but “ended peacefully” as Faison was taken into custody “without incident.”

From the Daily Camera:

Baltimore police officials said Faison is wanted on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder in connection with a nonfatal shooting on Nov. 15 in the 100 block of North Broadway Street in Baltimore.

Officials said Faison doesn’t have a criminal history as an adult.

Colorado athletics said Faison is a “childhood acquaintance of a CU football player.” The school declined to identify the player who knows Faison or the other players who live in the house.

"Mr. Faison is a childhood acquaintance of a CU football player and recently asked to reconnect and stay in his home with other players," CU spokesman Ryan Huff said. "Every indication we have is that the players had no knowledge that law enforcement agencies had an active warrant for Mr. Faison's arrest. Our players are cooperating with Boulder police during this investigation."

No Colorado players were arrested, police said.

Faison played college football at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C., and Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.
