Williams had been suspended for the past seven days for an undisclosed disciplinary issue and Malzahn declined to go into the specifics on Thursday.

"He took care of his business off the field, what I had him doing," Malzahn said. "He is in the process of every day earning his coaches' and his teammates' respect."

Malzahn did note that Williams would start at the bottom of the depth chart.

"He's going to earn his way back up. He understands that,” Malzahn said. “For anybody that missed that many practices that's to be expected."

Williams finished the 2014 season with 45 catches for 730 yards and five touchdowns during 10 games. He missed last season’s Outback Bowl for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Malzahn said Williams was remorseful for his latest offense, but Malzahn did not say what Williams would need to do to earn his spot back on the field or whether one more offense would be the final straw.
