Athletic directors of Mississippi State and Kansas State arrange home-and-home series on Twitter

You don’t see this every day.

After the two schools’ athletic directors challenged one another in a video charity challenge, Mississippi State and Kansas State agreed to play a home-and-home series in 2018 and 2019. And they did it via Twitter.

Here’s how it went down.

Mississippi State’s Scott Stricklin participated in the “Chillin 4 Charity” challenge, which raises money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. After completing the challenge, Stricklin challenged Kansas State’s John Currie on Wednesday.

On Friday morning, Currie tweeted the video of himself completing the challenge. At the end of the video, Currie also challenged Stricklin and the Bulldogs to come to Kansas to square off with the Wildcats on the football field.

Remarkably, by 2:00 p.m. ET, after a few tweets of course, the two ADs had worked out a home-and-home football series to be played in Manhattan in 2018 and Starkville in 2019.

I’m sure there are still details and contractual agreements to work out, but if this actually comes to fruition I’ll be extremely impressed with how effortless the whole process seemed to be.

The two schools have only played twice. The last meeting was in 1977. Mississippi State has won both matchups.
