ASU dismisses two players after burglary arrests

Arizona State has dismissed safety Jayme Otomewo and defensive tackle Deonte Reynolds after the two were arrested on second-degree burglary charges on Sunday.

The arrests, first reported by SunDevilSource.com, came after the team's football banquet. The Sun Devils play West Virginia in the Cactus Bowl on Jan. 2.

Otomewo is a sophomore and Reynold is a junior. Both players didn't see time on the field in 2015. Per AZCentral.com, the site that reported the dismissals, Otomewo has been a member of the scout team in practice and Reynolds is redshirting after his transfer from a junior college. Sun Devil Source reported Otomweo admitted he stole something from a woman.

In a message to SunDevilSource, Otomewo admitted to committing a theft of property of a female in her residence. He called the action an "impulsive decision" that is "completely outside of my character and would shock anyone who has known me since a kid."

Otomewo went on to say that he regrets his decision and "will take on my punishment with no complaints."

Details of the arrest were not immediately known. Reynolds was in the news October after he was associated with a fight in Tempe. Reynolds, who coach Todd Graham said was a victim, was not charged in the incident which purportedly included multiple gunshots.
