Everything went Taylor Kelly’s way Thursday night. The senior Arizona State quarterback accounted for seven touchdowns in a 55-21 victory at Washington State – two on the ground and five through the air.
Kelly’s third touchdown throw of the night to sophomore receiver Rick Smith involved a bit of luck. The Sun Devils already led 28-7, when Kelly looked for Smith deep down the right sideline.
The pass was badly underthrown, and with Cougars cornerback Damante Horton draped all over him, Smith somehow managed to tip the pass to himself before corralling the ball and backing into the end zone for a 51-yard touchdown.
Well done, sir.
