The Oregon football program is embracing its state’s history with its latest uniform.
The Ducks and Nike unveiled the new “Oregon Pioneers” combination that pays homage to the state’s heritage and Meriweather Lewis and William Clark, who founded the territory in 1805.
“We have many discussions with the Oregon athletes, equipment staff and coaches,” said Todd Van Horne, Creative Director for Nike Football. “For this inspiring new uniform, we want to celebrate the state and its great founders and innovators.”
Here’s what the grey uniforms look like:
The uniform features a bevy of references to Oregon, including a pattern of the Oregon Trail, a silhouette of Lewis and Clark on the helmet, and the 33-star United States flag from 1859 when Oregon officially became a state on the back of the helmet.

Michigan State lost another defensive starter to a serious injury.
Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio announced Sunday that safety RJ Williamson suffered a torn bicep in Saturday’s win over Purdue. According to the Detroit Free Press, the senior had surgery on Sunday and Dantonio said Williams could potentially return for the final game of the regular season.
Williamson, a fifth-year senior who has 24 tackles and two interceptions this season, made his 17th career start against the Boilermakers. When he left the game in the third quarter, Demetrious Cox moved from corner to safety alongside Montae Nicholson, who began the season as a starter, but came off the bench against Purdue.
Williamson is the third defensive starter to go down with a serious injury, joining fifth-year senior linebacker Ed Davis (knee) and redshirt freshman corner Vayante Copeland (neck), both of whom are out for the season.

The Big 12 is not having a good week.
The conference issued a statement Sunday afternoon apologizing for an officiating gaffe during Saturday's game between Kansas State and Oklahoma State. The down-and-distance was improperly adjusted during a second-half sequence for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys were given a first down on third down after a completion that was four yards short of the original line to gain.
Oklahoma State scored a touchdown four plays later and eventually won the game 36-34.
Here's the Big 12's statement in its entirety.
Big 12 Conference supervisor of officials Walt Anderson acknowledges improper first-down distance enforcement occurred during Saturday's K-State at Oklahoma State game. During the second-quarter, with the ball at the K-State 45, OSU was flagged for offensive holding during a 41-yard pass completion. After the 10-yard penalty was marked off, moving the ball back to the OSU 45, the chains were mistakingly set for the yard-to-gain.

Texas defensive back Kris Boyd issued an apology through the school on Sunday for his retweeting actions on Saturday. During halftime of the Longhorns' blowout loss to TCU, Boyd retweeted a tweet suggesting that he and a teammate should transfer from the school.
As I've had time to reflect on my actions, and after personally apologizing to my coaches and teammates, I would also like to extend my sincerest apology to all of the Longhorn fans and family and everyone at UT! In NO Way did I intend to be disrespectful or disloyal. I deeply regret my actions and want to reassure everyone that I am 100% committed to this team and program. I take pride and honor in being a student-athlete at The University of Texas. I promise everyone that I will learn and grow from this.
Boyd was a four-star recruit in the class of 2015 according to Rivals and the No. 11 cornerback in the country.

Florida's win over Ole Miss on Saturday was big. You don't need any proof of that after the Gators jumped to No. 11 in the AP Poll, but we'll present it to you anyway. Police officers assigned to sideline duty at football games don't regularly dance.
As Florida started its celebration following the 38-10 win, this officer had some fun.
He probably has better moves than you do. Don't lie to yourself.
Florida is now 5-0 and is all alone at the top of the SEC East division standings. The six other SEC East teams have at least one conference loss. Florida visits Missouri on Saturday.

Numbers and statistics are a huge part of college football. Every Sunday, reading updated box scores and stats is like Christmas for fans and media members. Some stats like total offense and total defense are overrated, but each help paint a picture for a team or particular game.
Whether the stats are historic, advanced or just an observation from a box score, Athlon Sports brings the most intriguing, important, historic and bizarre stats from around the weekend of college football action:
65: Average Yards by Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott on TD Runs Against Indiana
When Ohio State needed a big play against Indiana, quarterback Cardale Jones simply handed the ball to Elliott. The junior carried the offense in the 34-27 win over the Hoosiers, recording 274 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. Elliott scored three times in the second half, averaging a ridiculous 65 yards on the three touchdown runs. After five weeks, Elliott is tied for first nationally with four rushing plays of 50 yards or more.

There was lots of movement in the AP Poll after Week 5 and the Big 12 was the conference that profited from it.
The Big 12 has three teams in the top 10 of the latest AP Poll, released Sunday afternoon. TCU moved up a spot to No. 2, Baylor is at No. 3 from No. 5 a week ago and Oklahoma is now No. 10.
TCU and Baylor moved up because Michigan State struggled at home against Purdue. Despite the win, the Spartans fell to No. 4 from No. 2 a week ago. Ole Miss, which was tied with TCU at No. 3 last week, lost to Florida. The Rebels fell all the way to No. 14 while Florida moved to No. 11.
Ole Miss is also six spots behind Alabama, who moved up to No. 8 after beating Georgia on the road. The Rebels beat Alabama at Alabama two weeks ago. Did you expect the poll to make complete sense?
Here's how the top 25 looks in its entirety. The SEC also has three teams in the top 10.

Oklahoma State appeared to have gotten a gift in the second quarter of its 36-34 win over Kansas State.
Trailing 28-13, the Cowboys were apparently given a first down after a third-down conversion that came up short of the yard marker. How the heck did it happen? We'll attempt to explain it here.
The apparent mistake was first brought up by SB Nation's Bring on the Cats. Oklahoma State was penalized on first down for holding at the Kansas State 45. The penalty meant 1st and 20 from the OSU 45.
The next play was a sack for a seven-yard loss. On second down, Oklahoma State got four yards. So it was 3rd and 23. The third down play got 19 yards. You can see that 23-19 means there are four yards to go, right? Nope. OSU got a first down. Here's the entire sequence from the Fox Sports 1 broadcast:
This is what the play looks like from Oklahoma State's play-by-play. It's even confused.

There would be no Clemsoning on this night.
On a rainy night at Memorial Stadium, the Tigers withstood a furious Notre Dame comeback to hold on to a 24-22 win – barely. No. 6 Notre Dame scored with seven seconds remaining, but Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer was stuffed on a game-tying two-point conversion attempt to seal an enormous victory for the 12th-ranked Tigers.
It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective. Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson didn't have his best game (11-of-22, 97 yards), but the steady sophomore tossed two touchdown passes and racked up 93 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Clemson got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter, both on Watson touchdown passes – one to Jordan Leggett, another to Artavis Scott. Meanwhile, the Clemson defense would not allow Notre Dame to establish any sort of rhythm offensively.
The Irish could only muster a 46-yard Justin Yoon field goal, and went into halftime trailing 14-3.
Things got worse for Notre Dame to start the second half. C.J. Sanders fumbled the third quarter’s opening kickoff to set up a 21-yard Watson TD run to give the Tigers a commanding 21-3 lead.

It seems we were a bit premature in considering UCLA the favorite in the Pac-12 South.
A week after throttling Arizona on the road, the Bruins hosted Arizona State, a team that lost convincingly at home to USC in Week 4. And guess what? Arizona State jumped out to a three-possession lead in the second half and held on for a 38-23 win over the No. 7 Bruins.
UCLA pulled within six points at 29-23 and took an intentional safety when forced to punt deep in its own territory with a little more than four minutes to go. Coach Jim Mora figured it was a better bet to give ASU a longer field and make the Sun Devils punt. Instead, Arizona State marched down the field and scored a touchdown on this play by running back Kalen Ballage, which aptly summed up UCLA's night.
Freshman quarterback Josh Rosen's statline wasn't bad; he finished 22-of-40 passing for 280 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. But the Arizona State defense, which had not been anything special through the first month of the season, stopped the UCLA run game. The Bruins had just 62 yards on the ground.
