Washington's new Seattle skyline court looks a lot like Memphis'

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then officials at Memphis received a nice compliment from their counterparts at Washington on Thursday afternoon.

The Huskies unveiled a court design nearly identical to the one the Tigers revealed this past season.

The court at FedEx Forum features the Memphis skyline silhouetted across the bottom in a stain that's a few shades darker than the rest of the floor. The court at Alaska Airlines Arena features the Seattle skyline silhouetted across the bottom in a very similar style.

Credit Washington for its choice of courts to copy. If the Huskies were going to draw inspiration from any existing design, better it be the tasteful, subtle Memphis floor than the beach towel-themed floor at Florida International, the fir tree-framed court at Oregon or the San Jose State floor featuring five cartoon-like Spartan warriors.

Reviews were mostly positive for Washington's design.

Seventy-two percent of voters on the Seattle Times website said they liked the new floor. Added senior wing C.J. Wilcox, "The new UW court looks dope!"
