Victor Oladipo wins ‘almost’ dunk of the year while beating Michigan

Indiana beat Michigan 81-73 Saturday night in a game that more than lived up to the hype of two bitter rivals meeting with not only the conference lead on the line but the No. 1 national ranking as well.

But one play within the game had the social media world buzzing. Indiana's Victor Oladipo almost hammered home the mother of all ally oops with just under 8 minutes remaining in the game and the Hoosiers leading 57-53.

Oladipo soared to the rim and reached behind with his right hand to collect a cross-court lob from Jordan Hulls in a breathtaking display of athleticism and slammed it off the back of the rim. The ball caromed at least 30 feet above the floor.

The fact that Oladipo ALMOST dunked a pass headed to Pluto is amazing. That would have been dunk of the year. Insane athlete.

In the moments after the play, Twitter exploded with Oladipo related tweets. Oladipo finished the game with 15 points, but the play most will likely remember goes down in the box score as a missed field goal attempt.

I don't even care that Oladipo missed. — Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) February 3, 2013
