Tar Heels ditch Carolina Blue jerseys for the night

Maybe the only aspect of North Carolina's floundering basketball program that hasn't needed fixing this season is the classic argyle-trimmed jerseys the Tar Heels have donned for decades.

Now they've gone and messed that up too.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Air Jordan brand, North Carolina honored their most famous son by unveiling silver uniforms with white trim Wednesday night in a blowout loss to Florida State. Thankfully it appears to be only a one-night promotion, but that's still no excuse for taking the court without a stich of the school's famed Carolina Blue.

It was only 12 years ago that UCLA experimented with black jerseys on the road, causing the always understated John Wooden to remark, "Let's just say I was very, very surprised."

These Carolina jerseys are at least a lot better looking than those hideous UCLA ones, but still, what did Dean Smith say when he saw them?
