Sir'Dominic Pointer had this season's most ridiculous flop

No longer must Louisville's Chris Jones endure the stigma of having committed this season's most egregious flop.

St. John's forward Sir'Dominic Pointer outdid him Tuesday night with an even more ridiculous one of his own.

When Butler's Roosevelt Jones lightly shoved Pointer in the back before turning to run down court, the St. John's senior waited a beat as if assessing what happened before recoiling as though he'd taken a Mike Tyson punch. His flop was so cringe-inducing it even had his own teammate confused about what he had just witnessed.

Pointer's attempt to fool the referee was just one of several embarrassing moments for St. John's from its 85-62 loss to the 22nd-ranked Bulldogs. The Johnnies also lost starting center Chris Obekpa to a first-half ejection for landing an unprovoked elbow to the back of Butler freshman Tyler Wideman's head.

Whereas Obekpa has a history of reckless play, Pointer's flop is one of the few black marks on his otherwise sterling senior season. He has thrived as a undersized power forward for a St. John's team lacking much size, filling up numerous categories in the box score by averaging 12.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.1 blocks and 2.1 steals.

Remarkably, Pointer's flop wasn't the only one deserving of ridicule from Tuesday night's college hoops slate. Florida's Michael Frazier also had a memorable dive when he leaped into a Vanderbilt defender trying to draw a foul on a corner 3-pointer.

The backlash toward Jones was so fierce for his flop against Kentucky in December that the Louisville senior was benched the next game and publicly apologized afterward.

Bad as that one was, Pointer definitely topped it and Frazier may have too.
