President Obama expected to see a different kind of game in the East Region final he’s attending
President Barack Obama attended an NCAA tournament game he didn't expect to happen today.
When Obama filled out his bracket two weeks ago, he had No. 1 seed Indiana meeting No. 2 seed Miami in the East Regional Final with a trip to the Final Four on the line. No. 3 seed Marquette and No. 4 seed Syracuse had other plans.
Obama was probably wishing his bracket had held up early in the first half of the Elite Eight matchup when television cameras revealed his presence at the game to those watching around the nation and those in the arena. It was an ugly first half of basketball with both teams struggling to make shots taking a defensive-minded approach. Nothing new for two Big East rivals.
The teams began to loosen up later in the half and the Golden Eagles started to figure out how to score against the 2-3 zone, but Syracuse still led 24-18 at halftime.
