Whether it was poor shooting, too many turnovers or an inability to make free throws, North Carolina State did almost nothing right offensively in Thursday night's one-sided 74-55 loss to rival North Carolina.
In fact, about the only way the Wolfpack managed to get an uncontested shot was to pull up and fire from well beyond the mid-court stripe.
With his team trailing 37-20 and just a few ticks left before halftime, North Carolina State's Lorenzo Brown corrals Kendall Marshall's missed runner and heaves a shot from roughly 80 feet away. Improbably enough, it banked in, one of the more difficult shots of the college basketball season yet small consolation for an otherwise woeful performance.
The best part of the above video is the double take one of North Carolina's bench players gives as he walks off the court toward the locker room while Brown's shot was still in midair. It was almost as if he needed to look twice to process that the ball went in.
North Carolina has now won 11 straight against the Wolfpack, but NC State will get one more chance next month in Raleigh to end the streak. Maybe then the Wolfpack can find a way to solve North Carolina's defense inside of half court.
