Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel avoids injury after scary fall on botched dunk

What does it sound like when a few hundred people fear their favorite school's national title hopes have just vanished?

Probably a lot like this.

In the above video, decorated Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel crashes to the ground and lands flat on his back after botching a two-handed dunk in an on-campus pickup game Thursday night. Noel and his teammates were playing against some young kids as a way of thanking the hundreds of fans camping out for tickets to the school's Big Blue Madness event on the eve of the first day of practice next month.

Luckily Noel was uninjured, as was the boy he landed on in the fall. Not that too many of the Kentucky fans on hand even noticed the boy was on the ground, too, at first. They were more concerned about whether the heir apparent to Anthony Davis was going to be all right.

Having Kentucky players deliver pizzas or donuts to the campers and play pickup games with fans has become an annual part of the Big Blue Madness campout. It's a fun tradition but perhaps next year, John Calipari will issue an all-layup, no-dunk rule.
