It stands to reason that incoming Kentucky freshman Karl-Anthony Towns would have some rather large feet. Rivals.com lists him at 6-foot-11, 240 pounds after all.
But we learned Wednesday that Towns has the largest feet of any player in the recent history of the program, or at least that any member of the Kentucky equipment staff can remember.
Towns, a product of Metuchen, N.J., requires a size 20 Nike Air Max, which are now awaiting his arrival when he gets to campus for summer workouts.
Towns will be asked to help fill the void left by the departure of Julius Randle, who averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds a game in his one season with the program before moving on the NBA. Towns is rated the fifth-best recruit in the 2014 class by Rivals, giving coach John Calipari another potential superstar to mold.
Towns took note of the Kentucky Equipment staff tweeting about his shoes.
