Illinois coach John Groce sings ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ at Wrigley

An invitation to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field is a high-pressure perk for the average tone-deaf college basketball coach.

A good performance is quickly forgotten. A bad performance is sure to be immortalized on YouTube alongside the likes of Ozzy Osborne and Mike Ditka.

Fortunately for Illinois coach John Groce, he didn't embarrass himself during Sunday afternoon's game.

His rendition won't make anyone suggest he should trade his clipboard for a microphone, but it also wasn't memorably awful either. Better yet, his son got to sing along with him in the broadcast booth, surely a memory neither will forget anytime soon.

Groce sange "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Sunday as part of Illini Day at Wrigley Field. Of course, this Illini Day surely had less hitches than the last one.

Illinois won its 2010 football game against Northwestern at Wrigley Field 48-27, but both teams attacked the same end zone because of the limited amount of room between the east end of the field and the right-field wall.
