It's been six years since NC State has been in the NCAA tournament and seven years since the team advanced to the Sweet 16. Needless to say, fans had pent-up excitement they needed to release.
Hundreds turned out to welcome the team back to campus on Sunday night after an upset win over Georgetown advanced Mark Gottfried's squad to Friday's Midwest regional semifinal.
While the celebration was going on, Kansas was making State's path to the Elite Eight a bit more difficult. The No. 2 Jayhawks overcame an 11-point deficit to defeat No. 10 Purdue in their round of 32 game.
Kansas and NC State will meet on Friday night in St. Louis.
