Believe it or not, the Big South, Horizon and Ohio Valley conference tournaments tip Tuesday night, kicking off a 12-day mad scramble for NCAA tournament berths. Up next in our preview of the conference tournaments is the Horizon League, which Butler dominated in the regular season.

Horizon League Tournament

Date: March 2, 5, 6, 9

Site: First round at higher seeds, quarters, semis, finals at Butler

No. 3 Green Bay vs. No. 10 Youngstown State
No. 6 Valparaiso vs. No. 7 Detroit
No. 4 Milwaukee vs. No. 9 Illinois-Chicago
No. 5 Cleveland State vs. No. 8 Loyola

No. 1 Butler, No. 2 Wright State have a bye to the semifinals

Favorite: Butler (26-4, 18-0)

Contenders: Wright State (19-11, 12-6), Milwaukee (18-13, 10-8)

Did you know: Butler became only the fourth Horizon League team to get through conference play undefeated and the first team to do so since the 1995-96 season.

Outlook: Although Butler has won or shared each of the past four regular season titles, the Bulldogs have only captured one of the past three conference tournaments. They appear to have a great chance to capture a second one this season considering no other team had less than six losses in league play. Second-place Wright State earned the other bye to the semifinals, but it was actually seventh-seeded Detroit that played Butler the toughest in the regular season.
