The finish of Indiana-Kentucky from a Bloomington sports bar

If sold-out Assembly Hall was clearly the best place for Indiana fans to watch their team's breakthrough 73-72 win over top-ranked Kentucky on Saturday night, a Bloomington sports bar wasn't a bad backup option.

Here's video of the scene at Nick's English Hut in Bloomington starting just before Christian Watford sank his game-winning three as time expired. That shot toppled the Wildcats and served notice that Indiana again is nationally relevant in college basketball again.

All that celebrating may seem like overkill for a mid-December win, but consider what Indiana has endured since the firing of Kelvin Sampson in 2008. The Hoosiers lost 20 or more games in each of coach Tom Crean's first three seasons and they last were ranked in either Top 25 poll 1,372 days ago, the longest drought in school history.

That dubious streak should end Monday when the new polls are released. Indiana may not have the talent to be a title contender yet, but the Hoosiers are 8-0 and the program is in the midst of a rebirth. In success-starved Bloomington, that's enough to be worthy of celebration.
