Duke fans did not appreciate ‘FREE P.J.’ signs at Cameron Indoor Stadium

One Duke fan didn't appreciate the presence of a pair of North Carolina fans waving "FREE P.J." signs at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night.

When TV cameras panned to the Tar Heels supporters, the Duke fan crept up behind one of them, ripped his sign out of his hands and threw it to the ground in a crumpled ball.

The "FREE P.J." signs of course were a reference to North Carolina wing P.J. Hairston, who is in limbo indefinitely as the NCAA investigates whether he accepted extra benefits that would jeopardize his eligibility. Fellow Tar Heels wing Leslie McDonald has also sat out every game this season while the NCAA assesses his eligibility as well.

Whether Hairston and McDonald have to sit the rest of the season or are allowed to return at some point, what's frustrating from North Carolina's perspective is the uncertainty. The Tar Heels deserve a resolution soon so these issues don't hang over them the rest of the season.
