Mike Krzyzewski endured a bout of dizziness and lightheadedness during a second-half timeout, forcing him to take a knee. The Duke coach finished the game, but sent associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski to the post-game press conference in his place when the dizziness persisted.
"Obviously we weren’t playing as well as we needed, and there’s a great emotional investment into the game," Wojciechowski told reporters in Winston Salem. "Maybe the emotion got the better of him. Again, we expect a full recovery.
"He didn’t complain about feeling poorly either before the game or in the first half. There’s a great emotional investment, certainly by him. I’ve never met a better fighter than Coach K. He pours his heart and soul into everything that he does. His team not necessarily responding certainly can hit hard."
Krzyzewski, 67, left the arena under his own power. Duke's next game is its regular season finale Saturday in Durham against rival North Carolina.
