Chane Behanan might be headed to the NBA instead of playing for Colorado State next season, but he made it clear on his Twitter account late Wednesday that he hadn't made a decision yet.

SNY.tv reported Wednesday that Behanan had hired and agent and was jumping to the NBA instead of playing for coach Larry Eustachy, who welcomed Bahanan into his program as a transfer earlier this year after Behanan was dismissed from the Louisville basketball program in December for what coach Rick Pitino said were repeated violations of team rules.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported Bahanan, a 6-foot-6 forward, has been taking online courses and also spent time in Houston working with former NBA star and coach John Lucas at a recovery center addressing a substance abuse problem. The paper reported Behanan has admitted he was dimissed from Louisville because of marijuana use. The Louisville Courier-Journal reported Bahanan has a court date in Louisville April 29 for a marijuana possession.

"We've been in contact with Chane, and are aware that he is looking at all options to continue his playing career," Eustachy said in a statement. "We want what is best for Chane, and will support him in whatever decision he makes. We will know more in the coming days."

Considering Bahanan's acknowledged problems with marijuana, it might not be the best idea for him to try to continue his college career in a state where the drug has been legalized. Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds during his sophomore season in 2012-13 when he helped Louisville win the national title.

Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv spoke to an unnamed veteran NBA scout who said he believes it would be a mistake for Bahanan to turn pro.

“Off the court issues will really affect his draft stock,” the scout told SNY.tv. “He goes undrafted. He is a small 4 with no NBA-type  3 skills.”
