BYU’s latest lip-sync video is guard Matt Carlino doing Skee Lo’s ‘I Wish’

Matt Carlino was nervous when I spoke to him last Thursday.

The point guard knew the lip-sync video he did as part of a BYU basketball marketing campaign was due out in just a couple days.

"I don't know how mine's going to look," Carlino said. "I hope it's alright. I don't want to give too much away, but it's a rap video."

Sure enough, it was a rap video – to a classic song no less. Carlino lip-syncs and dances his way through Skee Lo's iconic 1995 hit "I Wish" in promotion of BYU's exhibition game against Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night.

BYU will be releasing a different lip sync video in advance of all 15 of its home games this season, and Carlino's is the second in the series. It's a solid effort and a terrific song, but it's not quite as legendary as the first one featuring Tyler Haws, Luke Worthington and Skyler Halford lip-syncing to the emotional Chicago ballad, "You're the Inspiration."

"I was laughing really hard when I saw that video," Carlino told me. "They're pushing hard for Ty to get a girlfriend. All the ladies are all over him now. He's Justin Bieber now."

No, word on whether Carlino's video also has the ladies of Provo swooning. If not, perhaps he'll have to attempt a ballad for his next one.
