Bird flying in arena briefly disrupts James Madison’s First Four victory over LIU Brooklyn
Yes, that blur resembling a bird you see in the photo above is an actual bird diving into the action tonight during a First Four game between James Madison and the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds.
It happened early in the first half and must have been taken as a good omen by LIU-Brooklyn fans, but it didn't workout that way. James Madison won relatively easily 68-55, despite playing without its leading scorer for the first half because he was suspended.
The bird actually landed on the court at one point but retreated to the rafters and wasn't too much of a problem of distraction. It was reminiscent of a game earlier this at Marquette when a bat began diving into the action and was eventually caught.
James Madison's victory was the first in the NCAA tournament for the program in 30 years and allows the Dukes to move on to play Indiana Friday night in the same building. The Hoosiers are the No. 1 seed in the East Region.
This is the first time James Madison has played in the NCAA tournament in 19 years. It last victory in the tournament came in 1983.
