By now, you're surely well aware of the perfect storm of early defections, poor recruiting and coaching turnover that has transformed the Pac-10 from powerhouse to punching bag this season.

Still, who knew the talent shortage even extended into the ranks of team managers?

First USC coach Kevin O'Neill fired Stan Holt after the student manager received a game-turning technical foul in Saturday's loss at Oregon for reportedly hollering obscenities at a referee.

Now Arizona State may be without senior point guard Derek Glasser as a result of a sprained right ankle suffered during Monday's practice when, you guessed it, he landed on a student manager's foot.

"I don't know the extent of it," Glasser told the Arizona Republic. "As of right now, I think I'm playing, but I guess anything can happen. We'll have to see how it responds."

The good news for the Arizona State student manager is that Coach Herb Sendek is a tad more forgiving than the hot-tempered O'Neill. All signs are that the Sun Devils manager still has a job today.

As for the rest of the Pac-10, players can't be too careful. I'm talking to you Jerome Randle, Nic Wise and Michael Roll. If a student manager hands you a cup of cyanide-laced Gatorade or drops a bucket of ice on your foot, don't say you weren't warned.
