Several of the latest NBA mock drafts have Kansas Jayhawks freshmen Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins as the first two picks.

No wonder coach Bill Self's team is skyrocketing up the polls after a slower-than-expected start this season. And no wonder the Iowa State Cyclones couldn't get over the hump once again Wednesday at Allen Fieldhouse in a 92-81 Kansas win.

Only four days after scoring a season-best 27 points, Wiggins improved on it by two points against the Cyclones. Six of his 29 points came down the stretch thwarting any last-minute run Iowa State might have had in it.

While Wiggins, Embiid and forward Perry Ellis were finishing off a regular-season sweep of Iowa State, Self was on the bench chatting for a moment with rapper Trey Songz, who was seated right behind KU coaches. (See our Loop below)

Since a rare home loss Jan. 5 to San Diego State, the Jayhawks have rattled off seven straight wins, five of which came against ranked opponents. It's no coincidence that Embiid and Wiggins have started to play their best basketball over that stretch. Embiid has produced two double-doubles and barely missed a triple-double over the span and Wiggins has found ways to help his team. One night it's scoring. Another night it might be rebounding and defense.

Give Iowa State credit for fighting back from a 16-point deficit in the first half to make it interesting late. Plenty of teams would have folded facing the kind of talent Kansas throws at you.

But it's clear that talent is beginning to find its comfort level with the college game and Kansas looks to be very difficult to beat the rest of the way.
