Amusing sign greets Arizona State upon arriving in Shanghai

Before Arizona State's basketball team arrived in Shanghai, a hotel staffer asked a school official what should be written on the sign directing the Sun Devils traveling party to the proper ballroom for an event scheduled for Tuesday night.

Clearly the hotel staffer took the response a bit too literally.

Arizona State sports information director Doug Tammaro snapped the funny photo above and posted it to the school's Pitchfork Posts blog. Wrote Tammaro of the hotel's ill-fated sign, "They just did what they were told."

The Sun Devils have played one game thus far on their exhibition tour of China, defeating Tushinghua on Monday night in Beijing behind 25 points from Eric Jacobsen and 16 from Calaen Robinson. Arizona State next plays Friday in Zhaoqing.
