Michael Snaer’s third buzzer beater in two weeks keeps Florida State in the at-large hunt

Michael Snaer has already proven time and time again opposing defenders cannot leave him any space for a potential game-winning jump shot at the buzzer.

Now the Florida State star has also shown he's lethal off the dribble in those late-game situations too.

With the Seminoles in jeopardy of being taken to overtime Tuesday night at last-place Georgia Tech, Snaer came to the rescue as he has done so many times before. He passed up a ball screen at the top of the key, split two defenders and laid the ball off glass as time expired to give Florida State a badly needed 56-54 victory.

Not only was Snaer's layup his fifth game-winning buzzer beater in the past two seasons, it's his third in Florida State's last seven games. The Seminoles had lost four of six before Tuesday night, with the only victories coming on Snaer's banked-in 3-pointer against Clemson and a corner 3-pointer to topple Maryland.

Snaer finished with a team-high 15 points, four rebounds and four assists against Georgia Tech. He cost the Seminoles on their second-to-last possession when he let a routine pass slip through his fingers for a turnover, but as usual he atoned for it at the most critical time.

Thanks to Snaer's heroics, Florida State is still within striking distance of an at-large NCAA tournament bid.

At 13-9 overall and 5-4 in the ACC, the Seminoles still need a February surge to make up for early-season losses to South Alabama, Mercer and Auburn, but at least opportunities remain on the schedule. They've swept fellow ACC bubble team Maryland and beaten BYU, Charlotte and St. Joseph's and they still have opportunities against NC State, Miami and North Carolina.
