Michael Frazier II sets Florida single-game record for 3-pointers in routing Gamecocks

No. 1 Florida remains unbeaten in the Southeastern Conference with one game to play in the regular season thanks, in part, to an historic shooting performance Tuesday by sophomore guard Michael Frazier II.

Frazier made 11 of his 18 3-point attempts leading the Gators to a 72-46 win over the Gamecocks to move to 17-0 in the SEC. Florida hosts No. 25 Kentucky in the regular season finale Saturday.

The previous Florida record for most 3-pointers in a game stood for more than 27 years. Joe Lawrence made nine 3-pointers in a game against Cal back in 1986.

“My teammates just did a great job of finding me," Frazier told GatorSports.com. "I was able to get in a zone there, but I didn't really feel anything. I was there. The ball just went in."

Frazier's 11 3-pointers are the second most from one player in a Division I game this season. Sophomore R.J. Hunter from Georgia State made 12 3-pointers in a Dec. 22 game against Texas-San Antonio.

Frazier's outing also ended up looking like a statistical oddity in the box score because he was the only Gator to make a 3-pointer in the game. His teammates combined to go 0-for-13 from behind the arc.

The 6-foot-4 product of Tampa entered the game ranked third in the SEC in 3-point shooting.
