Dunk of the year nominee: Detroit forward Doug Anderson

The Dagger will chronicle the college basketball season's best dunks again this year. If you spot one we missed, let us know here or here.

What do you get when you combine a blown blockout, a high-flying forward crashing the glass and an errant jump shot that bounces high off the back rim? Usually something like this. That's Detroit senior Doug Anderson timing his leap perfectly and flushing home Ray McCallum's off-the-mark jump shot during the first half of the Titans' loss at St. John's. It's an even more vicious follow dunk than this one Anderson pulled off last year in a win over the Red Storm. Anderson is the most accomplished of several powerful dunkers on the Detroit roster. Said Kansas coach Bill Self last March before his team's meeting with the Titans, "You could make a highlight tape of Detroit, and it's as good as Baylor's highlight tape. I mean, they are athletic."
