Devin Oliver hadn't scored more than 15 points in a game since November, but his timely scoring outburst Saturday night, including the game-winning shot, helped Dayton finish non-conference play with smiles.
Oliver, a senior forward, banked in a 3-point shot with .3 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Flyers a 83-80 victory at Ole Miss.
Oliver finished with 26 points and scored 22 of them in the second half and overtime. Thanks to his performance, Dayton improved to 12-3 as it prepares for what is shaping up to be a brutal and entertaining two months in the A-10.
The Flyers are one of seven A-10 teams with at least 10 wins. UMass is the only ranked team in the conference but George Washington is receiving votes.
Meanwhile Dayton and others in the league have earned some impressive victories. The Flyers can boast road or neutral-court victories over the Rebels, Cal and Gonzaga and they lost by one point to Baylor.
