Two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw: Spieth is imaginative

How do you explain how quickly Jordan Spieth has adapted to Augusta National, a golf course that is supposed to require such extensive experience to play well?

Ben Crenshaw, the two-time Masters winner who has come to know Spieth well as a fellow Texan, offered his thoughts on “Live From the Masters” on Saturday morning.

“Jordan really likes to watch the ball,” Crenshaw said. “He likes to watch it bend and curve. I really think he is very imaginative. He loves that part of the game, and I think these greens fascinate him. I think they did from the moment he stepped on these greens. He’s fascinated by how you play it.”

Spieth, 22, is the first player to lead the Masters after six consecutive rounds. He has only played 10 rounds in the Masters. He tied for second the first time he played the Masters in 2014 and won last year.

“From the first time I met Jordan, there was something different I sensed about him, the way he looks at you,” Crenshaw said. “He has a maturity beyond his years, and he has somehow grasped playing the game.”
