TDF: What’s inside a rider’s feed bag?


Though it's not raw eggs and butter like it was back in the 1920's, the race day meal of Tour de France riders is rather interesting. A soigneur, an assistant responsible for feeding, clothing and massaging the riders, creates a smattering of handmade fruit bars, rice bars and paninis each day to supplement the standard energy bars and gels that the riders ingest to fuel up for the race.
