On Day 4 of Rockets training camp, the team was running thin on big men. Dwight Howard was held out of Tuesday’s practice with a sore foot. Rockets coach Kevin McHale said X-rays were negative. Howard is expected to be back at practice on Wednesday.
“It’s just sore,” Howard said. “They wanted to rest me. I’m doing a lot of up and down and a lot of running. It’s nothing major, just precaution. “I wasn’t really worried about it. I’m just happy that it was nothing that was real serious.”
Rockets center Omer Asik is still day-to-day after leaving Sunday’s practice with a strained right calf muscle and center Greg Smith is also still day-to-day with a strained right hip. Center Marcus Camby (plantar fasciitis) is out for the week while guard/forward Francisco Garcia is still nursing a sore groin muscle.
