Rajon Rondo critiques own broadcast, gets call from Brian Scalabrine

Rajon Rondo couldn't play in Monday night's game in Chicago, but he was still very much a part of the game.

Rondo joined Mike Gorman for the first half of the broadcast aired on CSNNE, and provided the color commentary for the first time in his life.

So, Rondo, how'd you do?

"Mike [Gorman] made it a lot easier for me," he said. "I think it went OK. Obviously there's room for improvement, but for the first time I think I did a pretty good job."

Rondo got plenty of pointers before he went on TV, including a former Celtics player and commentator on CSNNE.

"I got a long text message from Scalabrine this morning, and then I actually followed it up with a call," rondo said. "I talked to Cedric Maxwell, he gave me some great advice. I talked to a couple guys who were rooting for me."

Rondo, who said the stand-up portion of the broadcast was the hardest part, simply wanted to give the broadcast booth a shot.

"It's just something that I wanted to do," he said. "I did it for the fans, I did it for my team, and it's something different. Not a lot of guys do it currently while playing, and I thought it'd be OK to give it a shot."

So, will we see him there again someday?

"I'll have to talk to my lawyers, my agent, my coaching staff, my general manager, and see how it goes from there," Rondo deadpanned." I mean, it's a possibility. If the broadcast wants me back on, then we'll see."
