Position statement: Chiefs use smokescreen at Geno Smith’s expense

Teams are eyeing former West Virginia QB Geno Smith, and the Chiefs, sitting in the No. 1 overall position, have no problem baiting other teams into falling in love with the passer. Alex Smith is under contract for two years in Kansas City, but that’s not stopping Chiefs brass from being fascinated with Geno Smith in order to drive up his draft appeal. If more teams vie for the services of the dual-threat passer, the Chiefs could be looking at a hefty package in return for their top selection.
