PFT Live: Trade is Titans’ optimal avenue with Chris Johnson

It has been widely assumed the Tennessee Titans would cut running back Chris Johnson rather than pay the $8 million his current contract demands, but Mike Florio says it would be wise for the franchise to hang on to the running back in case they find a trade partner.

The Titans should sense no urgency to make a decision on Johnson during the month of March because they aren’t in cap purgatory, like the Steelers or Cowboys, which would incite the need to clear Johnson’s salary off the books. Florio favors the thought that Tennessee hangs onto the running back and explores the trade route – because after all, $8 million for a former 2,000-yard rusher could become an offseason steal for most teams.
