On the same day teams around the league are gearing to empty their pockets and splurge on a bevy of free agents, the Miami Dolphins are instead proposing a new way to spend their cash. Stephen Ross and Co. is ready to pony up the money needed to renovate Sun Life Stadium, only if the state of Florida won’t force them to pay property taxes.
Mike Florio hints at the hilarity of the announcement's timing saying, “The Dolphins are making this known on the same day it’s time to go out and spend money. So they are going to spend money, not necessarily to make the team better, but to maybe make this suggestion that they don’t pay property taxes seem more palatable.”
